I’m so glad I click the ticket and finally went to eh concert tonight.
Let’s rolling back the time when I left Han/Sam/Fon/Darwin at Mitsuwa and headed to downtown San Diego. I went to Costco to pump gas first and it was around 6. so I decided I’m going to head to House of Blue. door open at 8, show starts at 9, what the hell am I going to do when I arrived there by 6:15? the thing was, people started lined up at the door from 5ish already Orz but I’m still early enough to squeeze myself to the front of stage.
I don’t remember the name for the opening band. guess they are local, I’ll get back the name later.
Nightwish started around 10:20 (dah~) with “Bye Bye Beautiful” which did not surprise me at all. Since TT’s departure, they always start with this song (yap, there is something in it, go wiki yourself) Followed by “Dark Chest of Wonder” (from album Once) Till this point, I can’t hear anything else ’cause they amp the bass too loud (both the bass guitar and bass drums)
then the following order may be wrong, I can’t remember the right order though and may also missing some Orz
“Amaranth”, “The Islander”, “Sahara”, “Last of the Wilds”, “The Poet and the Pendulum”, “Wishmaster”(from WishMaster), “Nemo”(From Once), “I wish I had an Angel”(from Once)
I was so high when TH hit “Sahara”, that is my favorite song from their new album, Dark Passion Play. This song came out pretty late in the concert that I think AO was kinda tired and wanna protect her voice, sever high pitches she did not sing it and lowered with 1 octave. but it was still lovely *heart*
Everyone was high with “I wish I had an Angel” and “WishMaster” but all I can think about “Wishmaster” is the misheard lyrics (go youtube it you’ll find out) When singing TT’s old songs, AO also fitted in well. “Nemo” was good too. I think they played 1 more old song but can’t recall the name….. Orz
Now I understand why people said AO fit in the whole band better than TT, from dressing, singing and interaction. AO dressed closer to the other band members while TT was kinda over dressed; I love TT’s opera style singing, but I don’t think opera goes well with live metal performance and AO actually adjusted her voice to go along with the music later half the concert…..
so with 6-hour-standing-sorrow legs and fully-filled-happy heart, I’m going to bed. will add something tomorrow morning :)
